Because all you’ll hear is the keyboard’s sound font.

I’ve actually never heard of a MIDI keyboard that can load sound fonts other than what is already onboard.

Driving a keyboard with the computer isn’t the way to get the result of the original question.

if you want to as well you could also use the native instruments keyboards that link to certain DAW’s.

basically it’s just a regular musical keyboard that can have either bluetooth, use USB, or some that are really advanced use RTP over WI-FI.

I’ve never used a mitty keyboard before.

I use QWS to run the Virtual MIDI Synth port and then I hook my computer up to my yamaha or my casio keyboard and it works fine.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood the question, I don’t know about physical keyboards unfortunately. You would probably have to use virtual midi synth on the computer (qsynth might work as well) and just plug in your keyboard.

This is the set up I use: coolsoft’s virtual midi synth for the synthesis, and virtual midi piano keyboard to send midi events, although if you need a daw you probably don’t need it.

Virtual midi synth should hopefully work but it’s hit or miss, for me sonic pi and vmpk recognise it while Mason’s computer midi keyboard didn’t.

or would the only way to do this be to use a computer to load the sf2 ETC. and use the keyboard to controll it?
